Lifestyle

A private lifestyle surrounded by nature

Living in Los Flamingos means enjoying a peaceful, secure residential environment surrounded by nature, with open views of the Mediterranean, the golf course and the mountains of Benahavís. Unlike Marbella's more urban areas, the pace here is slower and more residential, designed for those seeking privacy, space and a sense of retreat without leaving the Costa del Sol behind.

Life around Villa Padierna

The heart of the Los Flamingos lifestyle is the setting around Anantara Villa Padierna Palace, a five-star resort that brings prestige, high-end services and a highly distinctive identity to the entire community. Its classical architecture, gardens, dining options, spa and sports facilities elevate the residential experience and make the area much more than a luxury development.

Golf at the centre of the lifestyle

Los Flamingos is one of the most attractive areas on the Costa del Sol for golf enthusiasts. The resort has three courses, Flamingos Golf, Alferini Golf and Tramores Golf, with a total of 54 holes and different courses suited to varying levels of play. This direct connection to golf is one of the main factors defining the local lifestyle and the area's property appeal.

Wellbeing, sport and outdoor living

The surroundings of Los Flamingos encourage an active and healthy lifestyle. Its open landscapes, green areas, lakes, internal pathways and panoramic views create an ideal setting for walking, playing golf, exercising outdoors or simply enjoying the tranquillity of the surroundings. The proximity to the spa, golf club, racket club and the beaches of the New Golden Mile further reinforces its character as a wellbeing-focused destination.

Fine dining and high-end leisure

Although Los Flamingos is not an area with restaurants and shops within walking distance, it offers high-end dining options connected to the resort and is only a few minutes by car from Cancelada, San Pedro de Alcántara, Puerto Banús, Marbella and Estepona. This location allows you to enjoy a peaceful life at home with fast access to restaurants, beach clubs, shops, international schools and everyday services.

Beaches and the New Golden Mile

The coast is only a few minutes away by car, allowing you to combine the tranquillity of an elevated community with the Mediterranean lifestyle of the New Golden Mile. The area's beaches, chiringuitos, seaside promenades and beach clubs provide the perfect contrast to the privacy of Los Flamingos, particularly for those seeking a second home or family residence close to the sea.

An area designed for life with a car

Los Flamingos is not designed as an urban area where you can get around on foot. For everyday life, residents generally use a car to reach supermarkets, schools, restaurants, beaches and other services. This does not detract from the area's appeal. It is part of its identity as a private, peaceful residential community where views, security, space and discretion take priority.

Families and international buyers

Los Flamingos attracts international families, golfers, second-home buyers and owners looking for a main residence in a secure and well-connected setting. Its proximity to international schools, medical services, beaches, golf courses and urban centres such as Marbella, Estepona and San Pedro de Alcántara makes it a practical choice for both extended stays and year-round living.

Year-round tranquillity

One of the main attractions of Los Flamingos is its peaceful and stable atmosphere throughout the year. Although the Costa del Sol receives more visitors during the summer, this community retains its residential, discreet and well-maintained character. It is an ideal area for those who value tranquillity, security, views and the feeling of living in a private resort setting.

The Property Market

An exclusive market within the Golden Triangle

Los Flamingos has established itself as one of the most exclusive residential areas in Benahavís and the Golden Triangle of Marbella, Estepona and Benahavís. Its appeal is based on a combination highly valued by international buyers: privacy, security, open views of the Mediterranean, a golf setting, resort services and a strategic location just a few minutes from the New Golden Mile, Puerto Banús and Estepona.

Current prices in Los Flamingos

In 2026, public market references place the average asking price in Los Flamingos within an approximate range of 4.500 to 5.500 €/m², depending on the source, property type and precise location within the resort. This variation is explained by the mix of apartments, penthouses, contemporary villas and large properties with panoramic sea views or frontline golf positions.

Limited, high-end supply

The property supply in Los Flamingos is limited and strongly focused on the upper end of the market. Unlike more urban areas, properties here are predominantly located within gated communities with security, green areas, swimming pools, garages, generous terraces and open views. This scarcity of well-located homes reinforces the area's value and sustains solid demand among national and international buyers.

Luxury villas in Los Flamingos

Villas represent the most exclusive property type in Los Flamingos. They usually offer generous plots, private swimming pools, gardens, contemporary or Mediterranean architecture, large windows and outdoor spaces designed to make the most of the sea, golf and mountain views. The most outstanding properties, particularly those in frontline golf positions or with unobstructed panoramic views, can command multi-million-euro prices.

High-end apartments and penthouses

Apartments and penthouses in Los Flamingos are mainly located in gated residential communities such as Tee 5, Royal Flamingos, Four Seasons, Hoyo 19 and Alanda Flamingos. These properties typically stand out for their spacious terraces, golf or sea views, communal gardens, swimming pools, security and high construction standards. Penthouses with large terraces, south-facing orientations and open views are particularly sought after.

New-build and renovated properties

The Los Flamingos market combines established developments with recently built modern villas and renovated properties. In recent years, demand has focused on move-in-ready homes with contemporary design, energy efficiency, open-plan spaces, wellbeing areas and attractive outdoor spaces. Properties combining views, privacy and modern finishes generally occupy the upper end of the market.

What buyers look for in Los Flamingos

Buyers in Los Flamingos typically value privacy, security, views, golf and proximity to luxury services. It is particularly attractive to international families, golfers, second-home buyers and clients seeking a main residence in a peaceful setting that remains well connected to Marbella, Estepona, San Pedro de Alcántara and Puerto Banús.

Los Flamingos Views

Investment and second homes

Los Flamingos remains an attractive area for buyers seeking to combine personal use and investment. Its connection to the Villa Padierna resort, proximity to the beach and internationally driven demand strengthen its appeal for extended stays, second homes and high-end holiday rentals, always subject to current regulations.

Comparison with other areas of Benahavís

Within Benahavís, Los Flamingos offers a different proposition from areas such as La Quinta, El Madroñal and La Zagaleta. Although these locations also compete in the high-end segment, Los Flamingos stands out for its resort identity, three golf courses, the setting around Anantara Villa Padierna Palace and a location closer to the coast. This makes it a highly attractive alternative for those seeking luxury, views and services without being too far from the sea.

Market outlook

The market outlook for Los Flamingos remains positive in 2026. Limited supply, sustained international demand, the consolidation of Benahavís as a luxury residential destination and the appeal of living in a golf setting with resort services continue to support interest in the area. The best-located properties, with open views, high-quality finishes and south-facing orientations, are expected to remain the most sought after.

Los Flamingos - The Origins

The history of Los Flamingos began in the late 1990s, when Spanish businessman Ricardo Arranz de Miguel acquired an undeveloped estate in Benahavís known as Los Aralillos. His vision was clear: to transform the 7-kilometre valley into the leading golf and residential resort on the Costa del Sol.

The birth of the project

To bring his idea to life, Arranz assembled an international team of architects and designers: British architect Ed Gilbert, Marbella-based interior designer Jaime Parladé and Mexican architect Marcos Sainz, a disciple of the legendary Noldi Schreck, who had also designed Puerto Banús. The name "Los Flamingos" comes from the flocks of flamingos that once inhabited the estate's natural lake, which is now integrated into one of the golf courses.

The three golf courses

In 2001, the first course, Flamingos Golf, opened. Designed by architect Antonio García Garrido, it has 18 holes and a par of 71. It hosted the European Senior Tour in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In 2006, Alferini Golf opened as the longest and most demanding of the three courses, and in 2009, Tramores Golf completed the collection, making Villa Padierna the only golf resort in Andalusia with 54 holes. Michael Campbell, winner of the 2005 US Open, has led the resort's golf academy ever since.

Villa Padierna Palace

The Villa Padierna Palace Hotel opened in 2003 and was conceived as the heart of the project: a five-star grand luxury hotel inspired by Italian Renaissance villas, with more than 1.200 works of art, classical gardens and symmetrical architecture that recreates the atmosphere of a noble European estate. In 2010, the then First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, chose the hotel for her official stay in Spain, immediately bringing Los Flamingos international recognition.

The arrival of Anantara

In 2018, following Minor Hotels' acquisition of NH Hotel Group, the hotel became part of the Asian luxury brand Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, becoming the first Anantara property in Spain. In 2019, it was officially relaunched as Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavís Marbella Resort, consolidating its position among the finest hotels in the country.

A distinctive detail

One detail from the original project has endured: many streets in Los Flamingos are named after stars of classic Hollywood, including Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and James Dean, while its two main roads, Calle Marqués de Muñiz and Calle Marqués de Padierna, retain the aristocratic character that defines the resort's identity.
